Mission Statement

The mission of the YWCA of Greater Portland's SMART CHOICES Program is to sustain the power and potential of young girls so that they are prepared to make a successful transition into adolescence and childhood.

Description

SMART CHOICES offers after-school activities designed to promote the intellectual, social and personal development of 4th and 5th grade girls (age 9-11). We partner with girls to create a hands-on learning environment that celebrate and supports the success of women and girls, especially women and girls of color. Activities include: Hands-on Projects, Field Trips, Community Service, Visits with Female Role Models, Challenge Course Activities, Cooperative Games, Guided Group Discussions, Special Workshops and Trainings.
