The 2018 hurricane season has been extraordinarily active in parts of the U.S., with Hurricane Florence currently impacting millions in the Carolinas. As this natural disaster unfolds, the staff here at VolunteerMatch is doing its part to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you are prepared and safe. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know about the most effective ways to contribute.
Urban Moshav creates Jewish cohousing, a form of intentional community with a Jewish flavor.
Urban Moshav is a non-profit development partner for Jewish cohousing.
Cohousing is a form of intentional neighborhood, with private homes and extensive common facilities, in which residents know their neighbors well and engage deeply in community life.
Jewish cohousing is a modern village where neighbors engage one another through Jewish ritual, study, and culture, creating a milieu in which Jewish literacy, tradition, and values can flourish.
Urban Moshav supports forming communities by assisting them in a variety of areas, including: Project visioning, group formation, governance and decision-making, site search and feasibility, political approvals, project management, marketing and membership, budgeting/cash flow/finance, working with developers/construction professionals, and construction management. Our first project is Berkeley Moshav, a 20-25 household community in Berkeley, CA.
