Orange County Academy is a private school in the Bithlo, FL community that educates K-12 students in the local community. It is part of a not-for-profit organization called United Global Outreach that focuses on transforming neglected and underprivileged communities by meeting their educational, physical, spiritual and emotional needs by giving a hand-up, unleashing unlimited potential and possibilities.
Many of the students who attend this Orange County Academy are from low-income families in Bithlo and overall Bithlo is a low-income community. The community lacks resources to support those in need and for these students the school serves as the primary resource, safe place and positive influence in their lives. Therefore, Orange County Academy is an incredibly important part of the Bithlo community.
To extend the safe place and positive environment the school creates we will be starting an after school program. The Bithlo Youth After School Recreation Program is a fun after school program open to children in the Bithlo community in grades K-12. The overall goal of the program is to provide a constructive, supervised environment for youth in Bithlo to spend a few hours after school. Specifically, the program will feature indoor board games and activities, sports, and homework assistance. The program will also provide dinner to all children who attend.
