Mission Statement
WINSLOW’S VISION & MISSION STATEMENT: Therapeutic Riding produces smiles, giggles of joy, and friends. Riding a trained horse who instinctively knows he carries a special passenger lets trust and friendship begin. Physically, the movement of the horse stretches and strengthens muscles, improves balance and coordination and encourages learning. Unlike most therapies, it is FUN! AND, it produces results!
Description
The volunteer experience offered at Winslow is rewarding as it is unique. Working together with our staff and other volunteers, you make it possible to provide for disabled children & adults; Equine Assisted Therapeutic horseback riding activities and hippotherapy. In doing so, you contribute to the process of giving our participants one of life’s most precious gifts-a feeling of self-worth, accomplishment and self-esteem, by volunteering at Winslow you can help people with disabilities, work with horses and make new friends.
The volunteers who come to Winslow are a dedicated group. Their love, commitment, and enthusiasm, are second to none. Winslow volunteers come from a wide variety of backgrounds, but they all have one thing in common: energy, skills and compassion to share. The primary requirement of a potential volunteer is an interest in supporting the program. At Winslow we emphasize a team approach to provide active therapy as an enjoyable yet challenging experience.
