Mission Statement

The mission of the Sanctuary is to acquire land in order to establish and preserve a park-like tree habitat in North Carolina populated by Coastal Redwoods (Sequoia Sempervirens). A limited number of plants can be used for landscape enhancement and beautification and to promote Coastal Redwood growth. The purpose of establishing the Sanctuary is for use by and the enjoyment and education of North Carolinians and visitors to North Carolina. The Sanctuary will be designed so as to accommodate trails, a visitor education/retail center, an events area and parking.

Description

The North Carolina Redwood Sanctuary is a nonprofit organization set up to acquire land in order to establish and preserve a park-like tree habitat in North Carolina populated by Coastal Redwoods (Sequoia Sempervirens). The North Carolina Redwood Sanctuary has been organized exclusively for charitable purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended. The North Carolina Redwood Sanctuary shall not carry on any activities or exercise any powers that are not permitted to be carried on by corporations exempt from Federal Income tax under IRC Section 501(c)(3) or corresponding provisions of any subsequent federal tax laws.
