Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
Each year 125,000 horses are shipped to our borders where they are slaughtered for their meat which is sold in Asian and European markets. These animals have been abandoned...many are babies; some are sick, starving, badly neglected and are dumped in the auction kill pens. We go there and acquire as many as we can afford and bring them back to our stable. We nurture and rehabilitate these animals and restore their health and spirit, then we find them good, loving homes. We're making a difference, one horse at a time.
We have been operating the stable for five years and in that time we have saved over 100 (horses, minis, donkeys, and ponies). We are a five person board: The President and Stable Operations Mgr (owners of the stable); a VP of Fundraising; a VP and Secty; an Animal Manager. All are contributors, all funds go to the care and management of the animals. We take the mini's to local events and currently work with Discovery Museum's non-profit Paws Farm to provide children with the opportunity to get to know a horse and take a short ride. Our goal is to create and provide an Equine Therapy facility to support challenged, disabled, and autistic individuals.
