Mission Statement
The Starkloff Disability Institute is dedicated to creating pathways for people with disabilities to gain acceptance in all facets of society through employment, education, and universal access.
Description
SDI is implementing its mission through community education and employment initiatives. The Starkloff Career Academy and Starkloff Disability Consultants promote economic independence by addressing barriers to employment facing people with disabilities. Our approach involves educating employers, providing intensive preparation for job candidates, and connecting these groups to facilitate hiring. Educational programs include the Disability Studies Initiative, which prepares students at Maryville University to carry our message into the community, a Universal Design Summit showcasing practices in design that extend a welcome to all, and Colleen Starkloff Talks Disability.
