Do you enjoy spending time in the kitchen? Come help us on one of our cooking days! We cook with food that has been rescued from local grocers and farms. Jobs in the kitchen include washing, chopping, cooking, labeling, cleaning up and packaging meals. All of the food is then donated to local families in need through our community partners like food pantries. Find the day that works best for you! We cook every Tuesday, Thursday & Friday. New Sunday Prep & Process Kitchen Shift starting June 8th. Dishwashers are always appreciated! We also have Prep Shifts three times a month on Mondays where volunteers wash produce and slice, dice, chop, peel etc. getting the food ready for our big cooking day on Tuesdays. We are so grateful for your help, but please note this is a very busy, commercial-style kitchen. Cooking experience is useful, but not necessary. Please note your skill level when you sign up if this is your first time cooking with us. There are many jobs to be done that don't have to do with knives or hot stoves. Important: Youth should be 13 or older and must volunteer with an adult until age 16, then with parental consent.

Join us Thursdays to help sort rescued foods and on Wednesdays to help sort as well as "shop" for and pack our weekly boxes of healthy meals and fresh groceries for families. The meals we include in the boxes are all prepared in our on site commercial kitchen from nutritious food that has been rescued from local grocery stores and farms. We started our distribution program in 2020 when many seniors, veterans, and families in need of food assistance could not travel to pick up food due to the risk of covid-19 and other obstacles. Unfortunately, many barriers to receiving food assistance still exist. Transportation, for example, remains a significant reason why many people in our community do not receive the help they need. This program has grown to serve an average of 300 people per week! To sign up: https://secondchancefoods.org/volunteer/

Help us move food from one location to another and get it to the people who truly need it. Rescue Runs are picking up food from a community partner grocery store or food supplier and bringing it to our facility. Lifting required. Delivering Food requires light lifting. Trays of food prepared in our kitchen need to be transported to partner organizations. Delivering CSN Boxes is integral to our Wednesday Program. Boxes packed with cooked meals and fresh foods from our facility need to be transported to a partner organization. NO lifting involved! **All Transport Volunteer Drivers must use their own vehicle and have a valid driver’s license and insurance.**
