"for the purpose of educating orphan children or the children of such poor and indigent persons as are unable to accomplish this by their own means."

Description

Founded by George Washington in 1785, the Endowment has been reorganized as an active 501(c)3 charitable trust. It's mission is to establish and maintain The Detroit Latin School and to built the trust itself so that the interest can be used to fund worthy scholars who could not otherwise access a fine classical education.
