Mission Statement
The Henderson County Public Schools Migrant Education Program (MEP) is designed to improve educational opportunities for migrant children who change schools frequently and often miss school due to their parents’ transient work in agriculture. The staff works in close partnership with schools, parents, health and social service agencies, and the community at large to identify and serve migrant families. The program offers academic support and addresses family needs.
Description
The Henderson County Migrant Education Program helps migrant students and youth who work or whose parents work in agricultural, fishing and chicken processing labor. The mission is to help migrant families and youth meet high academic challenges by overcoming the obstacles created by frequent moves, educational disruption, cultural and language differences, and health-related problems.
