Mission Statement

Bastrop Animal Rescue is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) non-profit animal welfare organization whose mission is to save and improve the lives of animals in Bastrop County. We provide life-saving medical care for at-risk dogs and cats in the local shelter and community. We also work with members of the community to provide the education and resources needed to be responsible pet owners.

Description

Bastrop Animal Rescue (BAR) is funded entirely by donations and run by volunteers to save and improve the lives of pets in the community. We have no shelter or facility. The pets in our care are fostered in volunteer foster homes until they find their new loving, responsible, lifelong homes.

Since our inception, Bastrop Animal Rescue has saved the lives of over 2,000 at-risk pets. We focus on the animals with the most extreme needs: life-threatening medical cases, chained dogs, and many community cats and kittens.

We have recently broadened the scope of our mission to improve the lives of pets in the community by educating pet owners and providing them with the resources needed to become responsible pet parents.
