Mission Statement

Salt and Light Coalition is a consortium of individuals and organizations that leverage the power of trauma-sensitive yoga, fitness, nutrition and spirituality to support women in their healing after being victimized by trafficking and to empower them to find jobs within the wellness industry.

Description

In the first six months we teach self-care practices (yoga, meditation, nutrition and spirituality), providing a toolkit to deal with trauma. In addition to this toolkit, we ensure our participants are positioned to succeed by offering a stipend and CTA card to avoid the leading causes of recidivism into sex trade -- financial pressures and lack of job training. We develop women into balanced bio/psycho/social/spiritual individuals and our holistic curriculum targets all of these aspects:

* Bio: Nutrition and exercise

* Psycho: Therapy

* Social: Life group sessions

* Spiritual: Faith-based curriculum

Participants who excel in the first phase of our program are invited to take part in phase two, our Job Readiness Program. The next six months of their transformation begins with a 4-week class focused on preparation for the job market. Once complete, participants are paired with a mentor in their field of preference. This mentor will meet weekly with the participant to check in and review goals. During this phase of the program, participants will also have the choice of attending a Yoga Teacher Training program, a Personal Training Preparation program or another training of their preference. We provide the Yoga Teacher Training and Personal Training Preparation program in house, and we will do our best to seek partnerships to provide any other type of training they may prefer.
