Mission Statement

To Raise Awareness Through Adventure & Exploration. We want to challenge and inspire people of all abilities to explore new ways of living through movement. Our goal is to promote awareness & education in schools and institutions across America, conduct research & development related to adaptive athletics and build unique unconventional athletic programs & teams to pursue bold endeavors around the world.

Description

The idea of Blind Endeavors originated from Steve Baskis. In 2008 he lost his eyesight from a bomb hitting his vehicle while on patrol in Iraq. After participating in programs that involved everything from mountaineering to skiing and cycling, Steve found that he could still accomplish these types of endeavors even though he was completely blind. He just had to do things a little differently.

Blind Endeavors revolves around the idea that "Moving is Living". With blindness and the lack of seeing things around you, the world can seem very "still". By getting out, be it just walking down the street or trekking up a 14,000 foot mountain, getting the blood flowing, sharing stories with others and becoming part of a team can make the world feel more "alive".

The organization strives to not only encourage those with disabilities to go out and participate in recreation athletic activities, but we’re also here to help develop the equipment, techniques and programs needed to accomplish these endeavors.

Life can consist of many Blind Endeavors for anyone. Let’s move and live together...
