Houston Improvement Project (HIP)’s goal is to improve Houston’s community and learning spaces one project at a time.
Through an annual and open application process, HIP selects one organization to assist in increasing its community impact by renovating a space of their choosing for up to $50,000.
Partnership Qualifications
Must be a nonprofit organization within the Houston city limits, which owns the project space within Houston city limits.
This space is not limited to: classrooms, gardens, multi-use space, computer labs, libraries, and theaters.
This does not include: kitchens, bathrooms, swimming pools, animal facilities and outdoor sports facilities. If space needs to be brought to code, those funds will be taken out of the grant and overall project scope will need to be reduced.
Span of project could include: Painting walls, installing new floors, lighting, celling tiles, mural installation, installation of new books/computers/smart boards/desks and chairs/furniture, building small gardens and playgrounds.
