Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
Social Promise supports critical health and educational resources serving impoverished Ugandan communities. By promoting awareness, we seek to empower other people and institutions to support these vital humanitarian efforts. Conveying the achievement and promise inherent in these efforts, we hope to inspire a community dedicated to a spirit of altruism.
One of Social Promise’s founding directors, Sharon Crary, had the opportunity to travel to Uganda in 2000 where she worked with the CDC as part of the International Ebola Response Team and was stationed at Lcor Hospital. She also spent time at St. Jude Children’s Home, a nearby orphanage and nursery school. Since this time, she and others have formed a connection with the people of Uganda, seeing first-hand the lack of access to health care, education, nutrition and employment opportunities.
Social Promise has created unique, immersive hands-on experiences designed to teach US children about what life is like in rural Uganda, without ever leaving the country. Such resources help children understand and learn early on what it is like to live as a child in a less privileged part of the world. Children are exposed to real-life issues that many face such as disease, malnutrition, and illiteracy - yet at the same time learn about the constructive and positive aspects and developments of present-day life in Uganda.
By sharing our drive and experiences with the nextgeneration of philanthropists and volunteers, we too can be part of the movement that helps reverse the cycle of extreme poverty. We strive to provide children with an avenue to think creatively about current social problems, global connectedness, and how they can actually be part of changing the future.
