WCIL is dedicated to: connecting people with disabilities to resources, training and advocacy tools; promoting disability pride; and building self-determined lives.
Description
The Westside Center for Independent Living (WCIL) is an Center for Independent Living or CIL. CILs are community-based, cross-disability, non-profit organizations that are designed and operated by people with disabilities. CILs are unique in that they operate according to a strict philosophy of consumer control, wherein people with all types of disabilities directly govern and staff the organization. CILs provide: Peer Support, Information and Referral, Individual and Systems Advocacy, Independent Living Skills Training, and Transition Support.
WCIL is dedicated to supporting people with disabilities and seniors to achieve and maintain self-directed and community based independent lives. WCIL’s members are a diverse group of people of all ages and from all ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. We work together with persons living with any type of disability, including but not limited to: intellectual, developmental, hearing, learning, mobility impaired, physical, mental health, substance abuse, traumatic brain injury and visual disabilities.
