Anointed Community Services has instituted our GEM "Growing Earling Minds" Online Tutoring to keep individuals safe. We have a web portal through Tutorfly where we provide online tutoring in Reading, Math for children ages 5-15. We are seeking qualified adults who are available for 1 day per week during the hours of 12 Noon and 5PM to provide 30 - 45 minutes of free tutoring for economically disadvantaged children.

As a Youth Monitor for the Growing Early Minds After School Program at the Elese Tomlin Center, you will play an essential role in ensuring the safety, well-being, and engagement of children aged 5-15 during their time in the program. Your responsibilities include: Supervision Monitor children while they are in the computer lab, library, and game room to ensure appropriate behavior and a safe environment. Ensure students follow program rules and respect the facilities and one another. Maintain an active presence in all assigned areas to prevent accidents, disruptions, or unsafe situations. Support and Engagement Assist children with questions or issues in the computer lab, library, or game room, fostering a positive learning and recreational experience. Encourage cooperative play and academic focus as appropriate. Safety and Discipline Enforce rules and program policies consistently and respectfully. Immediately report any incidents or concerns to the Program Coordinator or staff. Facility Maintenance Help maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the computer lab, library, and game room. Ensure equipment and materials are handled properly and returned after use. Qualifications of a Youth Monitor To be an effective Youth Monitor, candidates should meet the following qualifications: Age Requirement Must be at least 16 years old. Personal Qualities Responsible, dependable, and punctual. Friendly and approachable with a positive attitude. Patient and calm when interacting with children. Skills Strong communication skills for engaging with children and staff. Ability to enforce rules respectfully and effectively. Problem-solving skills to handle minor conflicts or issues that arise. Experience (Preferred but not required) Prior experience working with children or in a group setting. Familiarity with basic computer skills and recreational activities. Character and Conduct Demonstrates maturity, respect, and professionalism. Enthusiastic about helping children grow academically and socially. Virtual Opportunity
Volunteer tutors are needed to assist adult GED students as they review subjects for the GED exam. The subjects could be Math, Reading, English, or Science. Students meet at a community center twice a week to study online for the GED. Anointed Community Services has an online tutor portal that the volunteer will sign into in order to tutor the student. Our tutor coordinator will contact you to set up an orientation of the tutor portal. Thank you for considering this volunteer opportunity.
