Mission Statement

The Instituto de EducaciĆ³n Popular del Sur de California (IDEPSCA) believes that day laborers and domestic workers, through popular education can read their reality and write the changes needed to create a more humane and democratic society.

Description

IDEPSCA’s four worker centers throughout the City of Los Angeles are more than spaces where workers can connect to jobs with dignified pay and working conditions. They also serve as a space where workers can learn their rights and how to exercise them. This means they can find support on how to file a wage claim, learn about the new minimum wage, receive workforce development services including OSHA certification. Whether it’s learning how to advocate against toxic exposure on the job or fighting for overtime pay for domestic workers in the state, workers also engage with local, county, and state leaders on pushing for critical policy changes that will help increase access for all workers and their families to lift themselves out of poverty.
