Mission Statement

True North's mission statement is two-fold: First, our mission is to provide a safe environment by educating, empowering, and advocating for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, and, second, our mission is to affect social change by providing opportunities for individuals to realize and participate in the community's responsibility to end domestic and sexual violence.

Description

True North is Boone County’s intimate partner violence and sexual assault victim services program. The agency provides a safe, emergency shelter offered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to victims of intimate partner violence who are fleeing abusive situations, and also provides a variety of advocacy services, individual counseling, and support groups for victims regardless of whether they are residing in the shelter or not. True North is also committed to social change, working to reduce incidents of domestic and sexual violence in our community and reducing the tolerance for these crimes through the provision of violence prevention education and awareness activities
