Virtual Opportunity
Through Million Little’s Art Exchange, justice-impacted youth explore their creativity through written word to harness the power of self-expression. As a collaborating Artist, you’ll receive these original pieces- poetry, prose, memoir, and more- to serve as inspiration for a work of your own in a medium of your choice! We currently work with Artists who devise these written words into paintings, sculpture, dance, short film, graphic design, music, and more. Completed pieces may be shared not only with the youth authors, but also with the greater Million Little and Los Angeles communities through social media, ML newsletters, and -when possible- at exhibitions in our service areas. Million Little’s Art Exchange provides artists both locally and abroad with inspiration for new work and an opportunity to connect with and empower young people through their art.

Million Little is a nonprofit that empowers and supports the healing process of children and their families who have experienced trauma through the power of creativity. Incarcerated teens, foster youth, those in poverty and those suffering from violence/adversity are all part of the population that Million Little serves. About the project: Join us November 28-Dec 1 as we put together "Creativity Bags" with art supplies for elementary students that we serve! This is a fun and simple way to spread the joy of art, connect with other members of the community, earn service hours, and learn about the work Million Little does. Ideal volunteers for this position: Demonstrate excellent attention to detail: it's important that all children get the same goodies, so ability to follow written instructions/the template is crucial Are reliable: following through on the commitment to volunteer and communication if things come up are highly appreciated Are organized: we'll be creating a sort of assembly line that multiple folks on multiple days will work with, so it will be important to maintain a tidy workspace so this project goes as smoothly as possible Enjoy working with others: we hope to schedule multiple volunteers together, as this can help the work go by more quickly. If you prefer working independently, please let us know in your application so we can work to accommodate that :) Shifts: Volunteers can join us for a full day (10am-5:30pm) or can sign up for shifts of at least 2 hours. There will be other opportunities to continue working with Million Little if you enjoy volunteering with us! This is a great way to try it out while doing good for children who wouldn't otherwise have access to these tools to empower through creativity.
