Mission Statement

The Mayor’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) is responsible for supporting Mayor Ginther and his Cabinet Leadership Team by leading diversity and inclusion management within the City of Columbus. The ODI will focus on four pillars of diversity and inclusion management: Workforce Diversity, Supplier Diversity, Diverse Outreach and Internal Diverse Leadership, Commitment and Communication are necessary for building Columbus into America’s Equal Opportunity City.

Description

For the first focus area we will continue building upon the great work that is being conducted in the Equal Business Opportunity Office by attempting to expand the depth and breathe of the Small, Minority, and Female business community through creative support services and business growth opportunities.

The Second area of focus will be to establish work force diversity initiative that supports all city departments with strategy and resources for the recruitment, retention and development of a diverse workforce.

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion will also focus on the development of a diverse community outreach strategy that will support the new neighborhoods department, and the community relations commission and their external outreach activities.

Finally, our office will clearly define and promote what the City of Columbus means by diversity and inclusion through internal communication messaging, imagery, and expressions of commitment from all members of the Mayor’s cabinet. The Mayor and his entire cabinet are committed to advancing diversity and inclusion anyway we can throughout city government, Columbus and central Ohio at large.
