Drive Seniors To Where They Need To Go

Village Without Walls is a community of older adults who support each other in successful living as we age. For those Village members who no longer drive, we provide transportation to medical appointments, shopping and to social events. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we are only providing transportation to medical appts using masks and maintaining physical distancing at this time. Our drivers get members where they need to go and they also provide friendly social interaction. You will get to know members' interests and history plus become friends over time. Drivers set their own schedule and availability. Basic requirements for drivers are: complete Village Without Walls volunteer training have a valid Driver’s License with a minimum of five years driving experience and safe driving record (no suspensions in last 2 years) have no moving violations in last 3 years have no more than four non-moving violations such as Failure to Appear, License not in possession, or No Proof of Insurance/Registration have valid vehicle liability insurance have a personal vehicle which passes our vehicle check successfully complete the National Safety Council online Defensive Driving course pass the driver road test. Valuable Volunteer Traits Willingness to commit personal time to travel and provide assistance on behalf of seniors or persons with disabilities Punctuality, good communication skills, tact, courtesy, compassion and emotional stability Ability to work respectfully with a wide range of cultures and personalities We do provide limited (25 cents per mile) reimbursement for miles driven.

General Office Support for Active Senior Organization

Our organization of active and friendly seniors needs a friendly and experienced person to spend 2 to 4 hours a week performing various office duties to support our village operations. You will work from home because the Village operates a virtual office. These duties might include: Creating volunteer name badges Sending out birthday cards to our members Preparing mailings Prepare donor thank you letters Support Village teams A face to face interview (Zoom OK), background check and volunteer training is required. Interviews and training will be done using Zoom.

Help Seniors Schedule Services

We need someone once a week to coordinate providing services to our members - local seniors and disabled individuals. This position makes sure that requests for member services are scheduled and assigned to a Village volunteer. We respond to the phone requests and emails Monday through Friday roughly 9 am to 5 pm. Duties and Responsibilities Enter Service Requests into easy to use system. Follow up with members by email or telephone for additional information as necessary Update and maintain daily Contact Log Answer member questions or concerns, or forward to appropriate contacts Route incoming emails or phone messages to other Village teams Skills Required Proficient working with computer, email, voicemail, word processing and spreadsheet applications Pleasant mannered and patient, especially when working with older adults Detail oriented and dependable Self driven with problem solving abilities Volunteer applicants will need to meet via Zoom for an interview with our Volunteer Chair. After training, you will perform duties remotely.

Potential volunteers contact Village Without Walls about volunteering in several ways: Respond to a Volunteer Match opportunity Submit a volunteer interest form through the VWW website Use the Contact form on the VWW website Leave a voice mail or send an email to the Village office We need someone to follow up with potential volunteers and guide them through the process to become an official Village Volunteer. This involves making the intial contact by email or phone, making sure the volunteer application materials are completed and requesting the background check (required for all volunteers. The skills needed are: Friendliness Organizational skills Basic computer skills Our Village is totally volunteer-run. We depend on our Volunteer team to find people who understand our mission and enjoy working with seniors who are making a difference in the life of their community. Please join us!

Description

Village Without Walls is a community-based membership organization of volunteers, that provide services to help seniors and disabled individuals stay involved in their communities and remain in their own homes as they grow older. Volunteers are the heart of the Village, providing direct services to our members as well as behind-the-scenes support to operate the village. We are neighbors helping neighbors to stay neighbors.

Village Without Walls is a program of Villages NW, a 501(c)3 nonprofit TAX ID 46-4190513, which serves as the Hub for ten Villages in formation across the Metro area. Villages NW is part of a nationwide network of support that fosters interdependent aging in community
