Description

Craft Lake City is comprised of a dedicated group of community volunteers, art and craft enthusiasts, DIY engineers and local artisans. Formed in 2009 by Angela H. Brown, editor and publisher of SLUG (SaltLakeUnderGround) Magazine, the organization believes Utah’s unique crafting history and cultural background provides a fertile foundation for the local alternative arts community to grow and flourish, and seeks to strengthen and support it through various activities. Craft Lake City facilitates local art and craft programs throughout the year, providing artists of all mediums with the chance to promote themselves and their work, while educating the community on the local Do-it-Yourself (DIY) culture through workshops, demonstrations, gallery shows, science and technology events and fundraisers.

Craft Lake City’s DIY (Do-It-Yourself) Festival is a three-day, annual event that takes place the second weekend of August in Salt Lake City, Utah. The DIY Festival prides itself on presenting all things indigenous to the state from entertainment to craft food. The 2016 CLC DIY Festival will be held at the Gallivan Center, 239 S. Main Street, on Friday, Aug. 11, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017 from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017 from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is $5, children 12 and under are free.
