Mission Statement

This is a call to become more engaged in events and projects for the City Council’s 35th District. If you’re looking to gain more experience in an office, we are accepting interns pro-bono to make calls, write letters, and help with legislation. Artists from painters to photographers to filmmakers are welcome that can help design event posters, banners, or even face paint at our community-wide events. Leadership roles are also available to organize groups of people or provide instruction from gardening to performing arts lessons. In my time as Councilwoman, I’ve seen a tremendous burst of community engagement and with it came a deeper sense of unity and pride in one’s neighborhood as well as growing friendship with one’s neighbors. If you or anyone else would like to come out for these events or future events, follow this link to fill out our volunteer information form: https://goo.gl/qVvECb.

Description

We are the volunteer staff for Laurie Cumbo in partnership with numerous organizations across Brooklyn. We are looking for volunteers to come out every Saturday from now until the end of September to join us at events in and around District 35. The majority of events will be block parties, festivals, and farmers markets at which we will pass out literature about the councilwoman, socialize with community members, and facepaint/balloon make for any children at the events (if able).
