The Kirkwood Historical Society was founded in 1961. The Society, through its Board of Directors and Membership, seeks to discover, collect and preserve the history of Kirkwood and surrounding areas. The Society promotes educational programs, exhibits and special events and provides for the preservation of Mudd's Grove.
The Kirkwood Historical Society is an all-volunteer not-for-profit organization that preserves and promotes Kirkwood’s long and storied history. It was organized in 1961 and received its 501(c)(3) status from the Internal Revenue Service in July 1963. The society makes its headquarters in Mudd’s Grove, a 150 year-old house located in the heart of Kirkwood.
