Mission Statement
At APIDC our mission is to give a voice and face to API's with physical, mental, and developmental disabilities. We seek to help break down the service and cultural barriers by providing knowledge, resources and through the cultivation of a community network for empowerment and independence.
Description
Founded in 1998 as an informal coalition, APIDC became a formal tax exempt 501(c)(3) organization in 2009. Over the years APIDC has organized four major conferences throughout California, the first ever in the state to bring together consumers and service providers as well as non-profit organizations in the API community. APIDC has also facilitated leadership trainings sponsored by AT&T, Edison International and others for the purpose of informing nominated particiapnts from colleges and universities to become champions of change in their communities. This program is currently being scaled into a comprehensive program. Our current event is the first ever walk-run marathon and festive community fair in celebration of Disability Awareness Month.
