Mission Statement
Our mission is to improve digital equity and inclusion in Pima County by increasing access to affordable and reliable high-speed internet connections, digital skill-building opportunities, and devices.
Description
Pima County Office of Digital Inclusion is working to close the digital divide by linking communities to affordable, high-speed internet access, increasing access to devices and tools, and providing opportunities for digital skill building.
It seems like we do more and more things online. Everyday tasks like reading the paper, filing taxes, and paying bills are done using a computer or smart phone. People send emails and post photos to their favorite social media sites, never sending a written letter in the mail. Businesses rely heavily on productivity software and technology innovations to engage with customers and remain relevant in the marketplace. We need digital skills to learn, work, and connect.
Digital skill-building means learning to use technology and the internet safely and effectively to improve our lives. People with less confidence in using technology can feel detached or left behind, without the means to find a job, complete schoolwork, get healthcare, shop online, or connect with friends and family. One of Connect Pima's goals is to increase digital skill-building initiatives in Pima County, so all community members are included in today's digital world.
