Mission Statement

Since 1958, the House of Charity (HOC) has accepted anyone in any condition, including those suffering from mental illnesses and addiction. The HOC provides emergency services including meals, clothing, shelter, and case management to an under-served population of homeless, transient, and poor men and women in the Spokane area while ensuring preservation of individual dignity.

Description

The House of Charity provides unique and valuable services to the Spokane region and the downtown area through critical services offered to the homeless and transient population. The House of Charity serves any individual in any condition, including the intoxicated and actively substance abusing (as long as a basic level of respect is maintained) and offers its services free of charge based upon need, not creed or ability to contribute. The services are the basic necessities for physical survival and include food, medical care, mental health counseling and case management, housing, shower and toilet facilities, laundry, clothing, personal effects storage and more.
