It is the mission of the Humanitarian Service Project to alleviate the pain and suffering that poverty brings to needy seniors and children living in DuPage and Kane Counties, Illinois, without discrimination or exclusion for any reason.
Through its five main programs, HSP provides life changing support to impoverished seniors and children throughout DuPage and Kane. These programs are:
Senior Citizen Project -Providing the elderly nutritious groceries on a monthly basis. Each senior receives a variety of different fruits and vegetables, frozen meats, non-perishables, bread, paper products, and a small gift from their "Secret Pal" donor.
Children’s Birthday Project- Providing Birthday Boxes to impoverished children on a yearly basis, which include new gifts, books, and party supplies. This gives children a happy & memorable birthday with their family for their 3rd-11th birthdays.
Feed the Kids- Providing 100 families with 175-200lbs. of nutritious groceries, each month during the summer (June, July, and August.) Each family receives non-perishables, a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, frozen meats, and bread.
Christmas Offering- In 2015, HSP provided 2272 children and 133 Seniors with new Christmas gifts, as well as providing 450 families with nutritious groceries.
School Supply Drive- Reaches approximately 3000 children with supplies by supporting the DuPage County Regional Office of Education, Kane County's "Project Backpack" and many local schools with high populations of students in poverty.
