Become a volunteer in our Teen Department and forge meaningful connections with teens through a variety of mentoring opportunities. Participate in diverse activities and spaces, such as STEAM workshops, hands-on projects, and athletic events, while providing assistance with career guidance, life skills, and college and career readiness. Volunteers are essential in supporting our staff, ensuring that mentors are available, and motivating teens to pursue their interests and passions. Overview: Teen Center Volunteers Participate in developing, implementing, supervising, and evaluating educational, recreational, and social programs in the Teen Center. These volunteers work directly with the Pathways Manager, support staff, program partners, and other volunteers to run educational and fun activities for about 70 -100 teens each afternoon. Teen Center program areas include, but are not limited to, robotics, art, technology, and career & college readiness. Responsibilities/Skills and experience relevant to this position: ● Maintain a safe and fun working environment for the teens ● Greet and check in all members ● Assist in planning and implementing weekly programs such as SMART Girls and Passport to Manhood ● Provide career and college planning assistance to members ● Provide ideas and feedback for potential projects ● Other duties as assigned by direct supervisor Flexible Scheduling: Volunteers can select their preferred days and times, with a minimum commitment of two hours per shift. Volunteer hours are available: School Year: 2 PM - 8 PM Summer: 8 AM - 8 PM Choose from weekly or monthly shifts based on your availability. Overview: Sports & Fitness Assistants serve to plan and supervise all sports and recreation activities taking place in the Athletics program. This includes helping to oversee the gymnasium, Basketball coaches, fieldtrip and enrichment opportunities. Get Involved as a Volunteer in Our Education and Technology spaces! Join us in supporting members by providing homework assistance, helping with reading, or guiding them through computer-related activities. This department frequently hosts educational workshops and organizes field trips to keep members' curiosity alive and foster their interest in exploring new topics. Overview/Position Summary Education Volunteers’ main responsibilities include helping students learn by reviewing educational content with them, explaining how to solve problems, and checking completed work. Education Volunteers help students develop study skills and organizational techniques to help improve their academic performance. They also lead STEM-related activities for Club members. Responsibilities/Skills and experience relevant to this position: ● Provide homework support for youth ages 8-17 in all academic areas ● Answer questions, give feedback; coach and encourage youth ● Monitor safety of youth, equipment, and materials ● Work with and provide feedback to Program Staff and Education Manager ● Assist members in learning how to find answers to questions on their own ● Provide alternate enrichment activities (worksheets, independent reading etc.) for members who have completed their homework. We are always open to volunteers sharing their passion and interest with our youth. Café volunteers play a vital role in providing a nutritious dinners to over 150 youth each evening. This presents a fantastic opportunity for both individuals and groups to help with tasks such as prepping, plating, serving, and cleaning up after meals for the youth at the club. Overview/Position Summary Cafe volunteers assist in serving a nutritious dinner to about 150 kids every evening. The Club is looking for individuals or groups of 3-5 people who will assist with plating, serving, and cleaning up dinner for our youth at the Club. Responsibilities/Skills and experience relevant to this position: ● Arrive promptly for your schedued shift ● Help plate the dinners for nearly 150 youth ● Pass out meals to all youth in return for a "thank-you" ● Monitor and interact with youth in the cafe while they enjoy their dinner ● Help tidy up tables and encourage youth to clean up after themselves ● Follow health and safety guidelines as set by the Club Flexible Scheduling: Volunteers can select their preferred days ( Monday - Friday) and times, with a minimum commitment of two hours per shift. Volunteer as a coach for our Peace League Summer Basketball program! The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Lowell offers this exciting summer league to help teens stay off the streets while having fun in a safe, indoor environment. Open to both boys and girls, participants are placed on co-ed teams. Tryouts/Drafts will be held from June 16th-18th, 5-8 PM. The season includes 14 games over 8 weeks. Coaches are only required to be present for the draft and scheduled game days, making it an easy and rewarding way to give back. After registering as a coach, you’ll receive more details.
