Advancing Students Forward

Description

Advancing Students Forward (ASF) is a binational nonprofit serving students in Tijuana, Mexico that also facilitates cross cultural exchanges between students on both sides of the border.

In Mexico 50% of students do not complete their studies beyond the sixth grade. 70 students in middle school through the university level meet on a monthly basis where they have the opportunity to develop their skills and talents and to form a sense of community.

Students receive academic support, enrichment and life skill training. They also receive a monthly stipend to help with school expenses. Students are required to participate in community service and have the opportunity to work at the community center where meetings are held.

An active alumni group mentor the the students to guide them on their academic journey.

ASF believes in "transformation through education" and provides the opportunity, tools and encouragement that every student deserves so that they can create the positive and productive future they envision for themselves.
