AmeriCorps VIP Fellow at Pacific Symphony (Volunteer Infrastructure Program) POSITION: AmeriCorps VIP Fellow SERVICE TERM: August 2024 - June 2025 HOURS: Full-time; 1700 hours w/some evenings and weekends REPORTS TO : Pacific Symphony Senior Director of Volunteer Services Position Summary : Pacific Symphony is looking for an AmeriCorps Fellow to work with our Volunteer Services Department. The AmeriCorps Fellow that we select should have a passion for the arts, music and love volunteering. This individual should be a college graduate who is looking for a great experience in the nonprofit sector, especially in an arts organization. AmeriCorps Fellows work in nonprofit, education and community organizations that serve children, youth and families to build capacity and develop their volunteer programs through the Volunteer Infrastructure Project (VIP). They do this through: 1) building sustainable systems to track, support, manage, and train volunteers; 2) recruiting one-time and skills-based volunteers; and 3) raising funds to support the development of the volunteer program. Partner sites change annually based on community and agency needs. This position is a valuable opportunity to develop and apply leadership and community organizing skills and to make a lasting difference. Extensive training in volunteer management and nonprofit professional skills is offered. Program Overview VIP Fellows are AmeriCorps members who leave a legacy in the communities they serve by building strong, sustainable volunteer programs in existing service organizations. Each VIP Fellow dedicates their service to a single Partner Site, working "behind the scenes" of service to enable volunteers to take part in meaningful service positions that meet community needs. Position Responsibilities: Work alongside Symphony staff to implement the volunteer program, including the development of position descriptions, assessments, training programs, and other tasks as needed. Recruit, train and engage skilled community members as volunteers for programs that support children, youth, and families. Develop a system to support, track and recognize volunteers throughout the year. Contact local businesses and franchises to establish new relationships that provide augmented support to Pacific Symphony. Secure funding, in-kind donations, and corporate volunteers to support the volunteer program by maintaining and nurturing business partnerships. Participate in required trainings and professional development opportunities, including orientation(s), Pacific Symphony meetings, and webinars/state trainings. Positively represent Pacific Symphony in all professional settings. Desirable Characteristics: Strong personal standards of excellence, ethics and integrity. Possess ingenuity and a can-do spirit. Possess leadership and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with staff, work cooperatively in group situations, and effectively respond to and resolve conflicts. Ability to problem solve and approach situations creatively. Ability to adapt to change in work environment, respond to feedback, and effectively handle competing demands. Proficient in relevant technology. Experience with community service, training, or leadership development. Eligibility Requirements: Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident Be at least 18 years of age Bachelor’s degree or above is preferred Musical background is also important for this role Agree to and clear a criminal background check Be available to commit to serving up to 40 hours per week for up to one year of service Be available for both daytime and evening (concert) schedules Must have reliable transportation and ability to travel to various training and service locations Have served no more than two terms in an AmeriCorps state or national program.* Benefit s : Opportunity to make a positive impact in the community Monthly living stipend of $2,727.27 Segal Education Award of $7,395.00 at completion of the program California For All Education Award of $2,605.00 at completion of the program (pending annual California State Budget approval) AmeriCorps Fellows may may use the Education Award to pay for current educational expenses at an eligible institution, to repay qualified student loans, or to do both. Student loan deferment and interest reimbursement at completion of term Health benefits and child care assistance if qualified Potential eligibility for CalFresh (CA's food stamp program) Extensive training, professional development, and experiential learning opportunities Please note: The living stipend and Education Awards are taxable. Like all nonprofit organizations, we need volunteers! We seek volunteers who are interested in giving back to the community while helping to spread the magic of orchestral music. Our volunteers enthusiastically advance the mission of Pacific Symphony through the contributions of their time, talent, resources, and ambassadorship. Our volunteers are the window to the Symphonic community and are a reflection of the diversity of interests and backgrounds that are found in Orange County. We need skills-based volunteers who have the time and expertise to assist our various departments in and outside of the Symphony Office. These departments are Finance, Marketing and Public Relations, Development, Artistic and Orchestra Operations, and Education and Community Outreach. We need skills-based professionals who have time to give to a project-based assignment, short or long-term, and who are experts in the following fields: Human Resources, Public Relations, Marketing, Social Media, Data Management, IT/tech, Web Development, Writing, Office Administration and more! We also need general volunteers who have time to share with us for our education and community programs and our concert hall performances. Like many nonprofit organizations, we love interns! We seek interns who are interested in growing professionally while experiencing the magic of orchestral music. We are looking for interns who want to advance their education and careers through contributing their time and talent to the advancement of music and arts programming in Orange County. Pacific Symphony interns reflect the diversity of interests and backgrounds that are found in our community. We need smart and talented interns who have the expertise to assist our various departments in and outside of the Symphony Office. We are currently looking for interns to support our work in the Volunteer Services Department during Fall 2024. We want to hear from you! During Fall 2024, our interns will sere roughly 8-10 hours per week on weekdays and weekends. They will assist in the Pacific Symphony office (located in Irvine), at concerts in the Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall, and MORE!
