Mission Statement Mission Statement: To strengthen listening and reading skills and keep children engaged in the learning process by assisting them in reading for enjoyment and information, establishing a habit of reading, and becoming an independent reader.
Our organization was founded in 2012. Our objective is to assist students completing K-3rd grade in maintaining and reinforcing literacy skills during the summer break by means of individual and small group tutoring. For four weeks at the end of the summer we hold 2 1/2 hour sessions, three days a week. The time is broken down into 3 segments of 40 minutes each. 1. One to one reading with an adult or older student. 2. Small groups of approximately 10 students work with a retired reading specialist reviewing skills they have already learned in school. 3. Snack and crafts to develop motor skills. There is no cost to the families. We are supported by the community, grants, and do fundraisers.
