Description
NESFA is an all volunteer organization, founded in 1968, with no member or officer receiving any salary or fee. Our official address is in Framingham for the convenience of mail pick-up. We own a building in Somerville, "The Clubhouse" to hold meetings, do the administrative and publication work of the organization, maintain a library, store various equipment and a small stock of our published books.
We publish books that have undeservedly gone out of print as NESFA Press and run an annual convention, Boskone. Boskone has an Art Show as part of its exhibits that is one of the best in the field. It also has a well regarded program covering all aspects of media but with a strong focus on literature and science. Boskone also has tracks on gaming, kids programming, and anime & film. The Boskone practice of publishing a collection of works by its Guest of Honor is responsible for starting NESFA Press.
NESFA has continuing activity in gaming, media, and book discussion plus the necessary work of selling our books, publishing our newsletter, Instant Message, and planning for and running Boskone and finding and publishing deserving works.
NESFA is part of the informally organized body of SF Fandom which supports the annual World SF Convention and dates from the 1930s.
