I am an ongoing volunteer Research Assistant for the Bangor Historical Society, and my time volunteering for them this summer has been lovely. They are very flexible and understanding, and in the case of university students allow them to work offsite. It has been a joy giving back to my community while also honing in my own research strengths. For any university student who wants to volunteer but can only give a couple hours each week sporadically, this is a great option to consider. Everyone is very friendly. The Bangor Historical Society also has several other positions open besides Research Assistant, for those brave enough to help curate or tour around the facility.
