Our primary mission is to preserve our historic building and contents. This is accomplished by striving to maintain the building and conserve the contents using the best conservation practices available. To keep the history of this unique area available to our residents and visitors, allowing them to experience the everyday lives and interested of our diverse community. To educate and amuse our visitors, through displays, school groups, topical speakers, special events and interaction with other non-profits and local businesses.
We achieve our mission in part by collecting and preserving items related to the day to day life, work, activities, and diversity of Bisbee’s residents and the surrounding area. Best known for its mining history, our goal is to show the broader scope of a multicultural and socially diverse population whose determination to live and thrive in a sometimes harsh environment reflects the spirit and determination of which all people are capable. By these means, we hope our visitors recognize the universality of life and the human condition. Our collection is located in a 1909 three story brick building with neo classical revival influence in the heart of Bisbee's historic district.
