Mission Statement

Humane Oregon promotes humane treatment of animals by participating in Oregon’s political process. We endorse, support and contribute to candidates who care about animals. We lobby for humane legislation, and we publish voting records of elected officials on issues affecting animals -- so voters who care about animals can hold their elected officials accountable.

Description

Humane Oregon was formed in 2014 to fill an unmet need in Oregon’s efforts to promote animal welfare. Oregon has many great animal shelters and other groups doing wonderful things for animals. However, most of these groups are organized as 501(c)(3) charitable organizations and by law cannot participate directly in elections for public office or devote significant resources to lobbying.


Humane Oregon welcomes volunteers to lobby for pro-animal legislation, to help campaign for pro-animal candidates, to aid us in our outreach efforts, and to assist with our administrative tasks. If you would like to participate in any of these activities or offer other volunteer services, please contact us!
