Mission Statement

The Mission of the Denison Public Library is to provide progressive resources, meeting space, and guidance to the citizens of Denison and Grayson County in their pursuit of life-long learning. These include digital, print, video, and audio formats. The Denison Public Library provides guidance in acquiring factual information, new life skills, recreational material, preschool and adult reading skills, computer literacy, and mastery of other technological skills. The Denison Public Library seeks to provide an atmosphere conducive to individual learning and small and large group interaction.

The Denison Public Library serves a community population of 22,816 and county population of 121,000. We have a staff of 18 that consist of 8 FTE and 10 PTE. We partner with many community intities such as Denison Independent School District to serve summer snack during summer reading programs, City of Denison Parks & Recreation to develop a Summer Day Camp program, Boy & Girl Scouts to host a STEM Scouts troop, area independent and assisted living centers to provide movies, virtual vacation, timeless trivia, and hobby programs. As well as our local hospital Texoma Medical Center to provide Lunch and Learn programs that highlight various areas of interest such as heart health, dimentia, depressiong, stroke awareness, and diabetes. With the assistance of three local foundations we are funded through our Read to Win program that allows us to go into every preschool and day care in the city to provide reading storytime events and to distribute books so that students may build their own personal library at home.
