FDSWF MISSION -Our Mission is to provide educational and support services to new parents and families. To empower special needs individuals and help them to become more independent. To promote community integration and together celebrate the lives of people impacted by Down Syndrome. We proudly serve Hillsborough, Pinellas, and Pasco counties. FDSWF GOALS - FDSWF Goals provide a foundation on which to meet the demands of the future. We strive: · To provide accurate and up-to-date information to new and expectant parents. · To change people’s attitudes about Down syndrome and promote respect and esteem. · To enable people with Down syndrome to speak up and be heard. · To help individuals become a productive part of society. · To provide financial and social service support.
F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Down Syndrome West Florida (FDSWF) was established at FRIENDS SUPPORT, INC in 2006 as FRIENDS SUPPORT, INC. We are a Down Syndrome support group that provides education, events, and a place where all Down Syndrome individuals and their families can come together. FDSWF promotes the value, acceptance, and inclusion of people with Down syndrome.
We offer year-round support and programs for our Down Syndrome and Special Needs community.
BABY FRIENDS - Birth to 5yrs Playgroups that meet monthly in Brandon, Largo, and Westchase/Oldsmar.
Dreem Tweens - 6yrs to 14yrs - Meets monthly for fun activities through out Tampa Bay.
F.S.C. All Abilities Dance - held monthly at Livingstone Academy - Valrico invites all special needs adults for a fun night of dancing.
Parent Liaison Program - delivers our FDSWF Parent Packets to all Bay area hospitals, new & expectant families, and families new to West Florida.
