Description

ABOUT GHETTO NATIVES INITIATIVE
The organization was started by a group of 3 young performing artists in August 2013 and registered as a Community Based Organisation (CBO) in February 2014 (Reg. No.3259) by Jinja District Local Government. We are currently operating in Jinja district, -Eastern Uganda. Ghetto Natives is one of the Eastern Region’s leading youth-led and serving organization, offeri ng safety and support to Jinja’s most vulnerable and disconnected youth, while seeking to also teach young people how to transform the conditions that create problems for them in the first place.

Rather than seeing young people as perpetrators of indiscipline and crime in the community, Ghetto Natives sees them as key stakeholders whose purposeful engagement holds the keys to addressing some of the most challenging problems facing the slums in the Region, including crime prevention, violence reduction, employment creation and youth involvement in community health and education programs. Generally, Ghetto Natives programs provide life-changing, intensive opportunities and community engagement initiatives to youths majorly in 7 slums of Jinja District. Viz:
Loco Railway Quarters, Masese 1, Mpumudde Market Zone A, Soweto,Walukuba -Zabef Zone, Walukuba-Babu Patel Zone, Kimaka Settlement And the district at large.
