Mission Statement

The purpose of the Friends organization is to promote the historical, scientific, literary, educational and interpretive activities of the Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site. Promote. Protect. Preserve. The Friends of Carl Sandburg at Connemara raise money to insure the Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site you visit tomorrow will be the same special place you know today.

Description

The Friends of Carl Sandburg at Connemara work to provide financial support for preserving the legacy of Carl Sandburg through vital education programs, historic preservation, protection of museum collections as well as through natural resource, goat herd and trail maintenance projects at Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site.

The site welcomes nearly 90,000 visitors each year to experience a piece of living American history. Government funding alone can no longer maintain special treasures like the Sandburg Home without financial reinforcement. The Friends are an all-volunteer group who run events and promote the park in the community.
