Mission Statement
The Putnam Chorale is a nonprofit community chorus founded in 1984 to bring a variety of quality choral music to Putnam County. Genres include classical, opera, folk, show-tunes, jazz, and seasonal music. The Chorale regularly performs Spring and Winter concerts with professional orchestration and professional soloists. The Chorale's outreach group, The Putnam Chorale Ensemble, brings music to those who are unable to attend regular concerts, such as nursing home residents. The Ensemble also participates in local festivities and community events. The Chorale is also proud to sponsor an annual Messiah Sing for the public during the Christmas season. A parallel mission of the Chorale is to provide amateur singers with a friendly, supportive and engaging opportunity to sing, Membership dues waivers are available to singers who ask so that financing is never a reason to avoid joining the Chorale.
Description
The Chorle is administered by a Board of Directors who raise funds and oversee expenses and development. The Music Director recommends and creates seasonal programming. Chorister membership varies between 40 and 60 dues paying members.
The Putnam Chorale is supported by the generosity of the public, local businesses and through grants administered by the Putnam Arts Council.
