Mission Statement

Social empowerment through the growing and sharing of fresh food.

Description

We believe at Food is Free Albuquerque that access to fresh food is human right. Many people in this country are denied access due to unbalanced distribution, that's where we come in.

We work within the community to harvest unused food, such as apple trees. Once the fruit has been harvested we get that food back into the community. We work with local farms who invite us in the glean their excess food, as well. Most of the food we harvest is food that would have otherwise gone to waste. We have realized that if everyone is growing a little we have the power to grow a lot, just right here in our own backyards.

We seek to regain our power as a community, and food is poower.
