Mission Statement
The Sakura Matsuri - Japanese Street Festival is the largest one-day celebration of Japanese culture in the United States and is proud to be the grand finale of the National Cherry Blossom Festival. We need over 600 volunteers to help us staff this amazing festival. We have available a wide variety of committees, shifts, and tasks for you to choose from to volunteer - find one that interests you and jump on in! The Matsuri this year will be on April 8th, Saturday, and will be in the Capitol Riverfront Neighborhood. To become a Sakura Matsuri volunteer please register on-line https://goo.gl/forms/WL0pxv9wUsUXxltx2. Please note that our online application is closing on March 24th, 2017, and orientations start on March 27th. Benefits for volunteers include: a Matsuri volunteer T-shirt, 2 drink tickets and a snack ticket for half-day volunteers, and for All-day volunteers these benefits plus a sandwich. (You must be 15 years of age or older to volunteer.)

Located just one mile from the White House, the Japan-America Society is a non-profit educational and cultural organization that works to promote greater American understanding of Japan and Japanese culture.
