Description

Kids Need To Eat, Inc. (KN2E) assists communities in understanding and overcoming barriers to all children having daily access to the nutritious food needed for their brains and bodies to develop into successful adults.

Our signature program is Kidz LunchBox: Free Summer Food & Fun. Since 2013, KN2E has been distributing free meals to children for six weeks (July and early August) duringthe summer. Kids 18 and under are invited to come to a LunchBox meal site each weekday to pick out meals to take home. We distributed shelf-stable nutritious lunches and breakfast meals, and also snacks and fresh produce. On Fridays kids take home extra meals for the weekend.

Kidz LunchBox 2017 will have six meal sites in Butler County,KS: three in El Dorado, two in Towanda, and one in Benton. Hours and locations are available online at KN2E.org.

In 2016 we fed a daily average of 174 children, distributing over 16,000 meals!

We now have a school bus converted into a Kidz LunchBox on Wheels. Painted green, its nickname is The GLOW Bus ("Green LunchBox on Wheels"). This has expanded our capacity. We plan on feeding a daily average of over 300 kids this summer.
