Mission Statement

Reading to Kids is an organization composed of volunteers helping to provide children with an enthusiasm for reading and a brighter future.

Description

Reading to Kids organizes monthly reading clubs at elementary schools that are held on the second Saturday of every month. The reading clubs run from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Pairs of volunteer readers read aloud to small groups of students from the elementary school (typically between 4 and 6) in a fun environment. Teachers at the elementary school provide supervision and guidance throughout the morning.

Reading to Kids is a richly rewarding volunteer experience. Well-organized. Respectful of volunteers. And the fact that you're able to install a love of reading in kids makes this a deeply satisfying volunteer opportunity. This is a wonderful organization that empowers volunteers to do something really meaningful -- and does a great job in the way they organize their volunteers to do it! Highly recommended.
