At the Boys & Girls Clubhouses of Fitchburg/Leominster and Gardner, more than 600 inquisitive, creative, intelligent members ages 8-18 attend our afterschool program, and another 400 attend Summer Blast. It is our focus to provide STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) opportunities to help them realize their full potential. Through partnerships with institutions and organizations like MIT, Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, WPI, FIRST Robotics, Comcast, Boston Scientific, Mount Wachusett Community College, and Fitchburg State University, we are able to provide more than 50 programs designed to bring STEAM into our members' worlds.
STEAM is crucial to success in today's workforce. As Juniors, age 8-12, and through the Teen Center Program, our members have a huge selection of activities to choose from, from the Beekeeping, Gardening, Embryology, Entrepreneurship, Financial literacy programs, Aviation, Science of Sports fair (past groups had the opportunity to meet Patriots players!), to FIRST Robotics- Lego League (FLL) and Robotic Competition (FRC), to NAO Humanoid robotics, computer science programs- Scratch and App Inventor, clubs- Girls Who Code, Torch and Keystone Leadership Clubs, Environmental programs, Hiking trips, Community service, and Career and educational exploration, Youth Employment program, Sports and the Arts.
Learning becomes synonymous with Club activities, and our members can't wait to be a part of the fun.
