Mission Statement
It is the mission of the Irish Classical Theatre Company to present the greatest works of dramatic literature: international classics, modern plays of exceptional merit, and Irish plays, both traditional and contemporary. ICTC will produce them at the highest level of artistic excellence, and offer them to the public of Buffalo, Western New York and Southern Ontario, and subsequently, to national and international audiences. ICTC has been instrumental in bringing national significance to our region, helping to maintain Buffalo Niagara as one of the premiere theatre destinations in America.
Description
The Irish Classical Theatre Company (ICTC) was founded in November 1990 by brothers Vincent and Chris O'Neill from the Abbey Theatre, Dublin, and fellow Dubline rs Dr. James Warde and Josephine Hogan. Since that time, this small but talented Company has become the most critically acclaimed and most honored theatre company in Western New York and beyond. The audience has grown a thousand-fold, and in just nine years after its promising beginnings, the Company constructed a new theatre on Main Street in Buffalo - the Andrews Theatre - the only true theatre-in-the-round and the first theatre built from the ground up in Buffalo in more than fifty years.
