Mission Statement
Art Pals International enables children from different nations, of different languages and backgrounds, to engage in a cross-cultural dialogue through the medium of art. To this end, we also encourage interchange between teachers and teaching artists from the communities with whom we work, across international borders. Lastly, we encourage small-scale grassroots socio-economic development for communities in need funded by the sale of professional and amateur art pieces (with permission).
Description
Our team of coordinators work directly with art teachers in different nations.
Children create original art pieces, which are then sent on a multi-country trip to visit other children, who in turn create visual responses. Children develop critical thinking skills as they analyse the artwork and deduce cultural information through the art, facilitated by curriculum created by our facilitators tailered to each individual exchange.
'Cultural information packets’ compiled by our local coordinators, accompany originals and are used to supplement the interpretation of originals and guide responses.
