Mission Statement
The mission of the Advocates For Families Court Appointed Special Advocate/ Guardian ad litem Program is to recruit, screen, train, guide, supervise and support qualified CASA volunteers (Court Appointed Special Advocates), who are appointed by the Ashland County Juvenile Court Judge as Guardians ad Litem (GAL). The CASA/GAL volunteers will provide quality advocacy and thoroughly researched, independent, and objective recommendations to the court for children who are before the court as a result of abuse, neglect, or dependency as defined by the Ohio Revised Code. CASA/GAL recommendations will be true to our understanding of each child’s best interest, will prioritize children’s safety and, wherever possible, preserve connections to their families.
Description
Advocates for Families CASA is dedicated to recruiting, training, and supervising concerned community members to serve the Ashland County Juvenile Court as Court Appointed Special Advocate volunteers.
CASA volunteers help children who are in the Juvenile Court system due to abuse, neglect, or dependency find safe, permanent homes. CASA volunteers speak up and take a stand for the best interest of the county’s most vulnerable children. The CASA concept is based on the belief that every child has the right to a safe, permanent home, as soon as possible.
